Objective: To enhance the competitiveness and manufacturing capabilities of MSMEs by integrating design expertise into their products and processes. Purpose: Helps MSMEs upgrade existing products, create new designs, improve usability, aesthetics, cost-efficiency, and marketability. Funding Support Maximum Assistance: ₹40 lakh for design project costs in collaboration with an academic/design institution or professional design company. The government contribution is up to 75% of the total project cost (for MSMEs). Covered Activities: Product design Industrial design Packaging design Process improvement through design intervention Eligibility Who Can Apply: Registered MSMEs with Udyam Registration Certificate. MSME clusters, groups, or associations. Startups registered as MSMEs. Must be in operation for at least one year. Have a viable product/process improvement plan. Types of Projects Supported Student Design Projects – Small-scale projects by design students (₹2 lakh – ₹4 lakh support). Professional Design Projects – Full-scale industry-level projects (up to ₹40 lakh). Application Process Identify a Design Partner: Choose a recognized design institute or professional design company. Prepare Proposal: Include problem statement, objectives, expected outcomes, budget, and timelines. Apply via MSME Portal: Submit the application with all supporting documents. Screening Committee Review: Technical evaluation and approval. Funding Release: Funds are released in stages based on project milestones.
